Not a very pretty color scheme, and it slipped back. I thought the pad might cause slippage issues. But I also didn't cinch up very tight so that may be the problem. (The cinch is a wide roper cinch for stability. It's my sister's but I might have to get myself one.)
This shows the bottom of the pad, to show the thickness of the foam inside. It didn't take much to make a big difference in comfort. The saddle I'm considering trying out is called an EZ fit saddle. There are a lot of things I like about it. And it's not terribly funny looking, compared to some of the other treeless saddles out there.
Just one thing... that horse on the left of their webpage is well under weight and looks wormy too. I just wonder if people who can't see that can read horses well enough to make a good treeless saddle? Doesn't matter if the horse is theirs or not, if it was my product I wouldn't be showing it on a thin horse.
ReplyDeleteHow about a Tucker trail saddle? They seem to have lots of trees to suit different shaped horses, and the tree is flexible. I had thought to get one of those and ship it to Oz for my draft cross if I ever wanted a western style saddle. They have a mustang owner/rider they are sponsoring on their blog so their saddles do fit one mustang at least. :)
Yeah, I spent a lot of time looking at that horse and wondering why the heck someone was breeding her (there's a foal in the photo too). She's probably a sweetheart, but she's not very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI don't like what I see in Tucker saddles - forward hung stirrups with a seat that puts you way back on the horse's loin. But I'll look at them again, maybe I'm remembering them wrong.
Thanks for the pictures of the bareback pad and comments. So, you don't recommend the blanket underneath?
ReplyDeleteActually you are right, Andrea, I ended up going off Tuckers (and it is not them that have the flexible tree either!) but now I can't for the life of me remember which ones I did like. Lucky I like my all purpose english saddle so much. :P
ReplyDeleteThat mare looks sweet and like she badly needs an upgrade of owner!
