Not Moving!

We made a trip to the Seattle area over the weekend. Originally the plan was to scope out areas where we might want to live. But when we found out the increase in pay wouldn't even touch the increase in cost of living, it turned into a tourist trip. I got to visit with my good friend, Della. I wish I'd chosen quieter pursuits than Pike Place Market. It was so packed we could hardly walk, and definitely didn't get enough visiting in. No pictures either, but I did take some at quieter times.

When we got home there was plenty of time left for some horseplay. I am doing a 10 week horsemanship challenge with Scout, to help keep us motivated and get him in shape for riding this year. I would have chosen Luc but you have to put 20 rides in, and that's not going to happen this year with him. Same for Pedro. Although I was tempted to do the challenge with him as well, I'm not sure whether he's up for 20 rides (he's not really broke to ride anyway).

  1. I wondered if that would be the case. Spokane is so much more affordable and there are so many horse trails!!! I'm heading out today for another ride. I'm sure you've already looked at the Spokane County Parks page, but it just a small listing of all the beautiful areas there are for equestrians. There are also city and state park lands here. Spokane, Andrea, Spokane. Horse properties abound at reasonable prices.

  2. Seattle is a nice place to visit, but besides being expensive, it rains there a LOT, and it's always so very busy. It looks like you live in an area where you have wide open spaces...that would be a big adjustment. Sounds like a fun adventure though - hope you find the perfect place!

  3. I grew up in that climate, and I hate it. I need to be able to see the sky.

Linda, a move to Spokane may be in our future, but hopefully not soon. My biggest worry in all of this has been my son. He's in a school that nurtures a sense of community and caring, and I'm not sure he'd do well with a switch to a large public school, suddenly adrift without his crew.
