Yesterday the weather was nice again so I got some work done outside, after doing some work inside, then we went exploring.
Beaver dam:
Imagine the story behind this old truck, way out in the mountains.
We found snow:
Huckleberry kept photobombing.
Later in the day I took Luc out to feed him some alfalfa. He kept pushing into my space because he was nervous, so I moved his feet around a bit. Mainly just moving his hibdquarters over. I don't know for sure, but I think he needed that reassurance that I was the leader, because when we went for a short walk after that, he seemed more comfortable than usual. He went into a treed area next to our property with just a little worry.
Then Scout and I went for a walk, played in a pond, and had a very nice little ride. :)
It was peaceful, almost dark, getting chilly but warm enough to take my coat off. Scout was more willing to move forward and even gave me a very nice, smooth trot.
Oh, I almost forgot, I found a moose antler! It isn't in very good shape, but it's still kinda cool.
What a find! I have been scanning the woods on my rides for some kind of treasure, deer or elk shed, but have found nothing but thousands of sun-bleached branches that resemble them, LOL! I just love thrift shopping! I wish I had more and better thrift shops near me. I live in a small town and loved the thrift shops in the city.
ReplyDeleteYou always post the coolest, most beautiful photos from your walks. Are these locations close to your home?
ReplyDeleteRanch Girl, thrift stores in the city overwhelm me! I'll take our small town second hand shops any day. :) I hope you find a nice shed sometime soon. I'd kind of given up hope. At least I found this gnawed-up old one.
ReplyDeleteSnipe - I thought you changed your name? Yep, they're all real close to home. I am so lucky to live in such a gorgeous place. :)
ReplyDeleteThat beaver dam is great! We don't have beavers in Oz so I find them very interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy sister is plagued by beavers. I like them, in theory, but if they were cutting down all the trees on my property I would be very sad. I guess you can do some things to protect the trees, but you can hardly get it done fast enough to keep up with the busy little guys. I wonder if that's what happened on our place. An old woman who used to play here when she was a child said that there used to be lots of trees along the creek. But, I can still enjoy the beavers out in the wild.

ReplyDeleteI'd ever realised they could be a nuisance like that! The only thing that chews trees around here is the horses and they'll ringbark them if they get a chance. They love the Jarrah trees especially.
