Well, darn it. No baby. What a long night. I think she shut down the process because I was there. Which maybe isn't fair to do to her. But I'd really like to be there for the birth.

It's pouring rain now, and I told her she had about a half hour before I go back out, so she's probably having it right now. I'll keep you posted.

I know the feeling. If your bedroom is close enough to the barn you may want to try a baby monitor like they use for infants or a security camera hooked to a TV. If you hear something going on you can go out. It would have worked except last year the mares had the babies while I was at work.

lol...i have done that many a time...as long as you are there nothing happens !! just go to sleep for an hour and when the alarm goes off one hour later you will have a baby on the ground. i lost many an hours sleep for no real reason...they did fine without me...usually, that is .Good luck..and the baby moniter works well too. i never had one, but a friend did . Doris
