I've loved this poem since I first saw it.  You might have to enlarge to make the words clearer.  For some reason they came out all fuzzy here.  I promise, soon I will quit being so morose.  I'm trying.

Oh...I am so sorry. I think the best we can ever do in life, is give of ourselves and love. That's what you did with Tonka. And sounds like Tonka gave and loved you right back. That is precious. That is something to keep within your heart always. Please don't apologize for your grief. You don't need to. Grief is real, and it's as valid as any other emotion. I'm so happy that you shared your life with that beautiful horse. He was really something, wasn't he?
Blessings and hugs, Lorie

You should expect to grieve for a good long time - there's nothing wrong with that and it's necessary. Your brave horse would certainly understand.

Grieve as long as you need to grieve..there's no timetable for when you should end your grief. I lost my best friend two weeks ago and I'm still trying to come to grips with it. Take your time..you will be much healthier for it :)

I had to send my girl, Possum, to the bridge more than two years ago now. I still get hit by flashes of grief for her. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. You do what you have to do. xxx

Don't apologize for grieving, I never met Tonka but through your blog and pictures, and you only once at the PNW EMM in 2009 when I went to watch Tracey, yet I am hit by moments of sadness that he is gone, I can't begin to imagine how you feel.

Tonka was special.

You are allowed to grieve! It would be unhealthy to not give yourself time to do it! And you will probably always have a moment of sadness touch you when you realize your special horse is gone, and that's okay too, as long as you still find joy when you think about him too.

I've always found comfort in this poem. You will grieve for a long time and as with everything it will get better with time.
